ShadowGPT Review — Can It Bypass Leading AI Detectors?
Can the ShadowGPT humanizer effectively bypass advanced AI Detectors and appear undetectable? We tested it using ChatGPT-4 content, and here are our results.

That claim is pulled directly from ShadowGPT’s homepage, and let’s just say it’s a pretty bold statement!
ShadowGPT is another example of an AI ‘humanizer’ claiming to have the capability to quickly turn AI content into content that is undetectable.
So, as with other AI ‘humanizers’, we decided to put ShadowGPT to the test to see if it really can bypass tools.
ShadowGPT is a relatively unknown AI text humanizer, but in recent weeks, it has started to make the rounds on social media, claiming to convert AI-generated content into content that bypasses AI detectors, such as Originality.ai.
The tool takes your AI-generated content and spits out an alternative version to try and get past AI detectors.
As always, there is plenty of interest in text humanizers like ShadowGPT, often for content creation purposes.
Google has been clamping down on AI-generated content. Many people have decided to revert back to writing high-quality, people-first content. However, there are still some producing AI clickbait.

Ultimately, the best way to identify whether or not ShadowGPT actually does what it claims is to put it to the test. Can ShadowGPT actually humanize content that will bypass AI detection?
Step 1: For starters, we need to create an AI-generated article, as this will be the basis of our testing. We generated this article in ChatGPT.
Step 2: Next, we took that AI-generated article and copied it exactly into three popular AI detection tools, including GPTZero, Writer AI and our own tool, the Originality.ai AI Checker.
Step 3: We then took that exact same copy and pasted it into the ShadowGPT tool, asking it to ‘humanize’ the content.
Step 4: We then copied the new ShadowGPT text and pasted it back through the same AI content detection tools to see what the difference was between the two versions of copy.

"Write an article about selecting the best home office printers for remote workers. Start by discussing the importance of a reliable printer for home offices and outline the key needs it should fulfil, such as multifunctionality, quality, and connectivity. Compare different types of printers (inkjet, laser, all-in-one) and their suitability for various workloads, highlighting advantages and disadvantages. Detail the features to consider, such as print speed, resolution, and cost-efficiency, including both initial and ongoing expenses. Conclude with recommendations for top printer models at different price points, catering to both budget and premium preferences, to help readers make an informed decision for their remote work setups."

As you can see from the results above, ShadowGPT is able to bypass some detectors. However, it is not able to bypass industry leaders like Originality.ai.
When you look into the text itself in more detail, you quickly start to see why it managed to pass through some AI detectors. Here are just a couple of examples:
As you can see, these examples are riddled with confusing sentences, spelling mistakes, and random letters. So, although it might have passed some of the detectors in this brief study, the content it produces doesn’t read like high-quality human-written content.
The key takeaway? While AI tools are helpful for research, when it comes to drafting quality content, it’s essential to keep a human writer and editor in the loop.

Based on our research, the ShadowGPT humanizer isn’t effective.
The ethical aspect of AI usage is a topic that is often discussed at great length. In most cases, human writing is not only expected but required, but there are also instances where AI is incorporated into the editorial or writing process. The best approach? Clearly discuss AI guidelines and policies before starting a writing project so that everyone is on the same page.
