Would your opinion or decision to book a service with a lawyer’s office change if you discovered the review you read was generated by AI and not written by an actual person?
Would you trust it?
These are valid questions in today’s modern digital space.
If you are deciding on which lawyer you want to represent you, reading reviews about the legal office is an important part of the consideration process.
Further, you might specifically be looking for reviews that are written by an actual person and based on their experience to inform your decision.
So the possibility of AI reviews for a lawyer’s office poses notable concerns.
In this study, we examine and uncover the prevalence of AI-generated reviews found in lawyer office reviews across 49 city-state pairs in the USA.
The findings from this study emphasize the need for digital accountability and the importance of authenticity and AI moderation in online consumer feedback.
This analysis highlights a sharp increase in the percentage of AI lawyer’s office reviews, most notably from 2022 (the year in which ChatGPT launched) to 2025.
From 2022 to 2025, this represents a significant 1586% increase in AI reviews for lawyer’s offices.
See the table below for a year-by-year breakdown:
The sharp rise in AI-generated reviews, observed particularly in recent years, may align with broader technological advancements and the increasing accessibility of AI tools.
However, it poses clear concerns and questions about potential consumer decisions being made on AI-generated reviews, which may not correspond to the sentiments of a law office’s previous customers or clients.
As of 2025, 34.4% of Lawyer’s Office Reviews are Likely AI. The sharp rise in AI-generated reviews in recent years underscores a significant shift in how companies and users incorporate generative AI within the review space.
The increase coincides with continued improvements to how useful generative AI models like ChatGPT are and how many people are now using these tools as they become more mainstream.
It may also line up with brands and companies realizing the value of having a large volume of customer reviews, and how that can be a key differentiator for people when making choices between one company and another.
Our analysis also revealed different prevalence of AI-generated reviews across each city. AI-generated reviews are more prevalent in some cities than others.
Among the 49 cities analyzed in this research, Boston has the highest proportion of AI-generated reviews, with 58.3% of reviews classified as AI-generated.
In contrast, cities such as Montpelier, Juneau, Augusta, and Springfield have relatively lower rates of AI-generated reviews and are all 5% or below.
Interestingly, we also observed that the average word count of reviews has increased over the years.
This trend may reflect increased user engagement and digital consumer feedback, which in turn is another reason to ensure the authenticity of digital feedback so it can maintain credibility and users can continue to trust online reviews.
A large increase in AI-generated law office reviews in the US has some notable implications.
A high level of generative AI reviews could have a substantial impact on customer trust. It could negatively impact the decision-making process, with consumers no longer trusting genuine lawyer’s office reviews due to a concern that they are AI-generated.
These findings emphasize the rising need for enhanced review authenticity verification processes and greater transparency from law offices in regards to reviews.
The study reveals an upward trend in AI-generated content in lawyer’s office reviews in the USA.
It is therefore important that businesses ensure the integrity and credibility of reviews, as otherwise they could begin to lose value in the client decision-making process.
While AI is continuing to impact the online review space, moderation tools such as the Originality.ai AI Checker can help maintain transparency.

Data was collected using a business search API (via Rapid API) that leverages Google Places API. We searched for “Lawyer Office” across 49 predefined U.S. city-state pairs using a Python script. Each GET request returned business details including name, address, city, state, review date, and review text. In total, 4,706 reviews were collected. For analysis, only reviews from 2020 onward with 100+ words were included.

Filtered reviews were analyzed using the Originality.ai API, which provided two metrics:
These scores were used for further analysis of trends in AI-generated content.
Sample Note: Only long-form reviews (100+ words) were considered. However, it offers meaningful insight into the growth of AI-generated text in legal service reviews.
