AI Stocks IPOs in 2023

Overview

In 2023, 154 companies made an initial public offering (IPO). An IPO is when a private company lists shares on a stock exchange, allowing the general public to invest in that company.

All public companies in the US have to file and disclose information to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) so the public can access financial and other information about the business (audited quarterly and annually). This is crucial for transparency and accountability.

We analyzed the IPO list and found that 33% (50 companies) were AI companies. Company name, Website, and Financial data are listed below.

Methodology and Resources

Here is the process that we went through to gather and analyze our data. To get the percentages of AI companies from all our data lists:

  • First, careful manual labeling was done to identify if the company was an AI company or not.
  • Second, facebook/bart-large-mnli was used to classify each company based on their Prospectus/About me.
  • After getting the list of companies from the classifier, a second round of manual checking was applied. This involved looking at the company Prospectus/About me and their websites to further curate the list of companies.
  • This process was done for the AI IPO’s list, AI R&D spenders, and AI Carbon Emitters.

All data was collected from cited sources, the official SEC EDGAR database, and/or both for cross-referencing and checking data accuracy and integrity.
