How accurate is the Fact-checker?
We completed a fact checker accuracy study looking at the accuracy of our Fact Checking aid. The results show an overall 86.69% accuracy. Originality.ai closely tied GPT-5 for accuracy, with a slight lead (Originality = 86.69% accuracy vs. GPT-5 = 86.67%), while decisively beating GPT-4o. However, the accuracy still means that the tool should be used as a fact checking aid and not viewed as the final source of truth.
What kinds of facts or AI hallucinations can I check?
Nearly everything! Check AI-assisted copy for potential AI hallucinations. Then, review AI-assisted or human-written copy for potential inaccuracies. The fact has to be verifiable though, so for example you can’t check “Chocolate ice cream is the best flavour” as this is an opinion. Also, for now we are steering clear of anything political.
Is it multilingual?
In short, no. But watch this space for updates in the coming months!
How does the Fact Checker work?
In short the checker goes through the content per sentence, fetches relevant URLs, and uses their content and your article to verify your fact.
Can I check recent information?
Yes. Our fact-checker is internet-connected, allowing us to deliver results based on the latest information.
What sources does the fact-checker use to verify information?
The Originality.ai Fact Checker has at least 1 source for every identified fact, each with a url, and now a title and date (if relevant). Plus, you can now generate a quick copy-pasteable citation in the style of your choice (APA, MLA, Chicago Notes and Bibliography, IEEE) for each individual search result source used by the Fact Scanner in its evaluation. Additionally, users can now generate a PDF bibliography of citations with all of the sources from the fact checking scan.
Does the fact-checker store or share the information I input?
We value user privacy and ensure data is handled with utmost security. All information concerning our privacy policy can be found here - https://originality.ai/privacy-policy
