AI tools and technologies based on large language and transformer models have made it possible to generate vast amounts of content quickly. However, this can often come at the expense of quality due to a lack of original insights, research, and critical thinking.
As a webmaster or content creator, you must verify whether or not your content has been created through AI before publishing it online. Failure to do so may result in search engine penalties and detrimentally affect your website’s rankings on SERPs. Google has emphasized high-quality and well-researched content experts produce as the key to successful SEO practices.

Testing Winston AI Accuracy
It was time to put Winston AI’s accuracy to the test, so we subjected it to a series of assessments using seven text pieces created by Jasper.ai, a well-known artificial intelligence writer. We then compared these results with those from Originality.ai – another advanced AI detection tool that detects content generated by GPT-3, ChatGPT, GPT-3.5, and GPT-2 – to gauge how effective Winston is at detecting machine-generated material.
We were highly interested in seeing how Winston would fare against Originality, considering its critical importance for identifying AI content; publishing such material without proper detection can lead to serious repercussions.
We’ve taken the time to analyze all seven of our text samples and compiled the results in a table for easy comparison. All of these texts are AI-generated, so they should all show up with a 100% probability of being AI-created. Let’s take a look at what the tests revealed!
The developers of Winston AI claimed 99% accuracy on their website, but our test results indicate otherwise. In detail: out of seven text samples, Winston AI only detected one as 100% AI-generated with total confidence. For three samples, it was somewhat confident about the presence of AI text, while for the remaining three, it failed to detect any and expressed certainty that they were human-generated.
In contrast, Originality.ai detected six out of seven samples as AI-written with high confidence. The average detection scores also corroborate the individual results, concluding that Originality.ai proved almost twice as accurate as Winston AI.
Comparing Winston AI to Other Platforms
Now that we’ve learned the features and detection accuracy of Winston AI let’s compare it with other AI content detection tools like Originality.ai.
- URL scanning: While Winston AI supports document upload, one of the major drawbacks webmasters might face is the absence of URL and domain scanning. Originality.ai is clearly ahead with its powerful and automated domain scanning tools.
- AI content highlighting: One of the ground-breaking features of Originality.ai is the inclusion of AI content highlighting, which lets you accurately see the likely AI-generated texts you can quickly rewrite and replace. Unfortunately, Winston AI does not have this highly time-saving feature.
- Inconvenient pricing: Winston AI requires you to subscribe to its monthly package starting from $18. However, the tool does not offer a pay-as-you-go pricing model as Originality.ai does. You must opt for a monthly subscription to scan text larger than 2,000 words.
Advantages of Winston AI
Although Winston AI has a few drawbacks that can make it less attractive than Originality.ai, its convenience is still commendable. The document upload feature in multiple formats is incredibly convenient for academic users, while the color-coded results visually indicate the AI presence in your text. Additionally, its OCR compatibility offers one of the quickest ways to scan your text from a photograph.
Winston AI is an impressive platform offering users excellent AI detection capabilities. For advanced users seeking a complete, convenient solution, Originality.ai might stand out as the premier choice. Originality.ai provides a smooth experience in detecting plagiarized content and AI-generated material and boasts a comprehensive suite of tools and an intuitive interface.
